If you haven’t noticed we here at Crumbs and Chaos love Fall and all that comes with it and that includes my family. Dinner last night included one of our favorites. Over the course of Fall and Winter we will probably feature various ways to make chili and the best part is there isn’t a right way. Make it just how you like it or with what you have in your cupboards. Here is how I made it for dinner last night. Pair it with some fabulous beer bread and you are set for dinner. This bread recipe is so easy and taste very similar to a popular brand you can buy.
Chili (looks like lots of ingredients but most of it is open and pour in)

1 lb. ground turkey breast
1/2 large onion
2 tsp. minced garlic
1 can Rotel tomatoes
1 can chili beans (mild)
1 can corn
1 can black beans
1 can kidney beans
1 small can tomato paste
1 small can sliced mushrooms
2 tsp. hot chili powder
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. paprika
1 cup water (optional)
Brown ground turkey. Pour into large pot. Lightly brown onion and garlic in a little olive oil. (I like to do this separately but you could do this step together). Add to large pot. Stir in remaining ingredients. Heat to a boil. Reduce heat and cover. Simmer for at least 30 minutes (the longer, the better). Stir occasionally.
This recipe definitely gets better with time so make it ahead and heat when you are ready to heat. Often times in the Fall and Winter we will make this at the beginning of the week and then eat it for lunches. I add a cup of water to my chili because I like the soupy consistency. My husband actually prefers in thicker so sometimes we leave this out.
Okay, now for the recipe that you always wish you had. Beer Bread!!! I have bought a mix for this many times but when I found the recipe in a cookbook I never turned back.
3 c. Self-Rising Flour
3 T. sugar
1 can beer
Mix all together. Pour into greased loaf pan. Bake at 375 for 40-50 minutes or until knife comes out clean. The top will be rough and hard so spread with butter while it is hot. Let cool slightly before slicing.
This is perfect pairing with chili or toast it and top it with butter and honey from a yummy snack.
Enjoy!

Does the beer bread really only take 3 ingredients? Does it matter what type of beer? Does the beer flavor stay in the bread? I have never had beer bread and if its really that easy then I would give it a try to make for my boyfriend which loves chili and beer haha
