This classic sugar cookie recipe has been in my mom’s family for many years as her Grandma used to make them. They are the perfect balance of soft and crumbly. The recipe is simple and easy to follow. Make extras of these cookies as store them in the freezer for a rainy day. Our recommendation to store them by themselves because if you store them with another kind of cookie, they take on other flavors. Enjoy this classic recipe with a cup of hot chocolate.
Sugar Cookies
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup oleo (you can use butter or margarine)
1 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
4 cups flour
Cream sugar, oleo, oil. Add eggs and mix until fluffy. Sift dry ingredients, add to above. Roll walnut-size balls of dough. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Use a wet glass bottom dipped in sugar to press them down. Bake for 10 minutes at 375°.
Enjoy!
