My kids stayed at Grandma’s a few weekends ago, and, when my mom asked what they wanted to do, my daughter said color Easter eggs. So, as fun as that sounded, my mom decided to turn it in to a craft for this time of year. They made hard boiled eggs to look like pumpkins.
You’ll need:
eggs
boiling water
vinegar
liquid food coloring
Start off by hard boiling your eggs: Place eggs in saucepan and cover with cold water. Cover pot and bring to a boil. Let simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from the heat and drain the eggs. Rinse with cool water.
In a separate bowl, add two teaspoons vinegar to one cup boiling water. Add food coloring to make desired color. We used yellow and red to make our orange. Place egg on a spoon and place in the mixture. The longer you leave it in the mixture the deeper the color will be. Once you reach your desired color, let cool for a minute or two and then you can use a black permanent marker to make your pumpkin design. When finished, keep eggs refrigerated.
My daughter loves to eat hard boiled eggs as well, so this also turned in to a great snack!
