As of late, I’ve been obsessed with making overnight French toast almost every weekend. I usually do a simple version because that makes everyone happy, sometimes I try and get a little fancy (Strawberry Croissant French Toast?!) But I’ve discovered an easy and super fabulous way to make the simple version a little more exciting…listen closely…I’m going to whisper it…International Delight Flavored Creamers. Yep, that’s right. Flavor and sweetness all in one makes a super delicious breakfast.
What does that have to do with bread pudding? So glad you asked. You see bread pudding and overnight French Toast are practically cousins. Day old bread, eggs, sugar, milk or cream – components of both. Using International Delight to make a decadent dessert made sense.
The outcome…pure bliss. Heath International Delight Coffee Creamer was my choice for this dessert because chocolate and toffee is one of my favorite candy bars lately and a warm, bread pudding topped with ice cream is hard to beat.
Go on, just do it. This bread pudding is a great way to show off your ID 🙂
Ingredients
- 8 oz. Day old FRENCH BREAD, cubed or torn*
- 2 cups HEATH INTERNATIONAL DELIGHT CREAMER
- 1 cup WHOLE MILK
- 4 EGGS
- 1 teaspoon COFFEE EXTRACT
- 1/4 cup SUGAR
- 1/2 cup MILK CHOCOLATE TOFFEE BITS
- Vanilla Ice Cream for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°. Place bread in an 11x7 or 8x8 lightly greased baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together creamer, milk, eggs, extract and sugar. Once it's well combined, stir in toffee bits. Pour over bread.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until the center is set and a knife comes out mostly clean. Serve warm topped with vanilla ice cream and extra toffee bits.
Notes
*If you can't find day old bread and can't wait to make this, lightly toast the cubed bread in the oven for 15 minutes before putting into baking dish.
