Summer is here {or right around the corner, depending on how you look at the calendar}. And, like every year, one of the things I anticipate each summer are fresh, gooey s’mores. Since we moved in to our house late last fall, I’m looking forward to many summer nights here in our beautiful backyard roasting up marshmallows, sandwiching them between two graham crackers with some milk chocolate – that combo always makes me smile. There’s always a reason for a backyard summer s’mores party…because it’s Friday is a good one to start 🙂
I set up a nice sized table not far from the fire pit and included the following items in the spread –
Kraft Jet-Puffed Regular and S’moreMallow Marshmallows
Hershey’s Milk Chocolate and Cookies and Cream Candy Bars
Honey Maid Graham Cracker Squares
Cheesecake Spread
Coconut Pecan Frosting
Sliced Strawberries
Lemon Curd
Raspberry Jam
Creamy Peanut Butter
Hershey’s Chocolate Hazelnut Spread
On the table there was also small paper plates, campfire forks for roasting the marshmallows and wet wipes because s’mores are one of the gooiest and messiest summer treats!
My father-in-law had never (say what?!) in his whole life eaten a s’more!! We got that fixed pronto, and, of course, he had to document that important event with a picture 😉
I fell in love with Kraft’s S’moreMallows last summer and bought several bags at a time. I was excited to see them in the store again this year. They are rectangular shaped instead of the normal round marshmallow shape. I will say they are for marshmallow lovers because by the time you sandwich a toasted one of them in a s’more, there is marshmallow in all corners and beyond of that s’more. A friend recently told me she thought they were more difficult to roast than regular marshmallows. We didn’t have any trouble with them on a fork-type stick, they didn’t fall off with the two prongs holding them over the fire.
Don’t have an outdoor fire pit? You can roast marshmallows using a charcoal or gas grill or take things inside and use the flame on your gas stovetop, broil them under the broiler of the regular or toaster oven or even heat them in the microwave! That’s right, you can make s’mores for dessert any night of the week!

Walmart has all of the essentials you need to make s’mores any day of the week. This s’mores display was in the center aisle between the refrigerated cheese section and household paper products. It was easy to grab a 6 pack of Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bars, Honey Maid Graham Cracker Squares and Kraft Jet-Puffed Marshmallows on my latest Walmart trip. Don’t forget to think outside the s’more and check the candy aisle for other Hershey’s chocolate to use on your s’more!
Do tell, what’s your favorite way to enjoy a s’more?
