A quick and easy no bake treat, Kitchen Sink Bars are a little salty, a little sweet and a whole lotta irresistible!
This is my favorite thing to make when I need a sweet treat, but don’t actually feel like making anything. Yep, I have those days or things just get busy and I run out of time or energy {or both!}. I’ve been making these since last summer when I needed a simple treat to take to the beach for a picnic. I saw a version of these on the show ‘The Kitchen’ and decided to whip up a batch with what I had on hand. This is sweet and salty heaven, which makes them pretty hard to say no to 😉
To Make Sweet and Salty Cereal Bars or Kitchen Sink Bars:
Start with a liberally greased 9×13 pan, marshmallows can be so sticky! In a large bowl, you’ll combine the cereal, pretzels and potato chips – you’ll want to slightly crush the bigger pieces of pretzels and chips so everything jives well together after being pressed into bars. Then we’re making the best part of a gooey, no bake treat – the melted marshmallows! Marshmallows, butter and vanilla make the ‘glue’ of this bar and after mixing that with the pretzels, cereal and chips, you’ll add M&Ms because chocolate > no chocolate {obvi}. Then you’ll put it all in your well greased pan. I like to use a greased spatula turner to press it all into the pan, that way nothing gets sticky and you can get everything in a nice even layer. Let cool before cutting into squares {I like to use a bench scraper to do that job} and daring yourself to eat just one…let me know how that works out for you 😉

Kitchen Sink Bars
Ingredients
3 1/2 cups PRETZELS, lightly crushed*
4 cups RICE CEREAL SQUARES
1 1/2 cups POTATO CHIPS, lightly crushed*
1 cup M&Ms
10 oz. bag MINI MARSHMALLOWS
3 Tablespoons BUTTER
1 teaspoon VANILLA
Instructions
Generously grease a 9x13 pan.
Place pretzels, cereal and potato chips in a large bowl. Stir together.
In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt butter and marshmallows until smooth. Remove from heat and add in vanilla.
Pour over cereal mixture and stir well. Add M&Ms and stir again.
Put into prepared pan. Using the flat side of a spatula sprayed with cooking spray, press the mixture into an even layer.
Allow to cool before cutting into squares. Store covered at room temperature.
Notes
*You want to gently crush the pretzels and chips so there's no big huge pieces, but you don't want tiny crumbs either.
Because there’s always an occasion for a pan of dessert bars…
