Enthusiast – noun, a person who is highly interested in a particular activity or subject.
We may go a little overboard at our house as far as coffee is concerned! I realized we’ve never shared our favorite coffee making-drinking-roasting types of tools and gift giving season is the time to do it…you know, in case you need to add any of these to your wish list. Let me preface this post by saying that we’re coffee purists, we almost always enjoy our coffee black and brewed from freshly roasted, freshly ground beans.
Here are some great gift ideas for the coffee crazed people in your life…
Clever Coffee Dripper– this will brew you a cup of ‘pour over + French press’ style coffee and the way it works is, well, so clever! You place the ground coffee in the filter, add water and cover with lid, the liquid stays put thanks to the plug on the bottom of the Clever Coffee Dripper. When 4 minutes is up, set the dripper on top of your mug, doing that pushes the plug up and allows the coffee to drain into your cup. It makes a really smooth cup of coffee and may very well be my new fave coffee gadget.
Stanley Classic 16 oz Mug (comes in navy, red or green) – we own both the Stanley Classic Thermos and this mug {obsess much?} Everyday my husband takes the Thermos with him and I use the mug to keep my coffee hot after I brew it in the French Press. They both keep the coffee hot for HOURS, seriously people…HOURS. We love taking the Thermos on road trips because you can get it filled at most local coffee shops and have hot coffee for your entire drive!
Hario Manual Coffee Grinder – as you get more serious about different coffee brewing methods, you learn that a perfectly brewed cup of coffee is all about the grind! Freshly ground coffee is always the best and you need a fine to coarse ground depending on how you’re brewing those beans. You can easily adjust this grinder to grind anywhere between fine and coarse. There are electric burr grinders that do a great job at this, we love this manual grinder for the price and the fact that you can take it anywhere…French Press coffee while traveling, anyone?
Bodum French Press – we’ve had a model very similar to this one for almost 8 years and it does its job well day in and day out. We use a French Press every day of the week because we love the full body cup of coffee it produces. Bodum makes all different sizes of the French Press, which is awesome in case you need a personal cup in the afternoon or are making a pot to share with friends over dessert.
Chemex – we own the 10 cup version, because we’re fanatical like that, but this handy gadget also comes in the following sizes – 3 cup, 6 cup and 8 cup. You can brew til your heart’s content! {Don’t forget the Chemex filters!}
Diner Style Mugs – last holiday season we snagged a few of these at the Goodwill and I instantly wished we would have bought them all. I LOVE this mug because it’s heavy and makes me feel like I should always be drinking it while I’m eating a plateful of eggs and bacon or, at the very least, a donut 😉
Felt Coffee Cozy – handmade by my very own sister 😉 These adorable coffee sleeves make a cute stocking stuffer and are super useful when you’re grabbing coffee on the go!
For the serious coffee lover…roast your own beans! I’m serious! My husband has been roasting coffee at home for years and it’s such a fun little hobby. He started out using a Whirley Pop Popcorn maker to do it {read more about that method here —> Sweet Maria’s Whirley Pop method}, but last Christmas he got a small drum roaster and he loves it!
Behmor 1600 Plus Drum Coffee Roaster – we’ve had this baby for about a year now and it’s the size of a toaster oven and can be used in the house compared to him using the Whirley Pop method in the garage.
Green Coffee Beans – yep, coffee beans are actually green before they’re roasted and turn that beautiful, deep brown. Coffee Beans are grown all over the world and each region is unique. By roasting your own, you decide how light or dark of a roast you want and each batch can be customized to your liking. We’ve ordered green coffee beans from Sweet Marias in Oakland, CA and Theta Ridge Coffee, which is just a short drive for us, in South Bend, IN. Theta Ridge also sells the Behmor Roaster and they include 8 lbs. of green coffee for free when you buy it from them
Psst, Santa…this Christmas my coffee lovin’ husband is asking for a Kitchenaid Pour Over Coffee Brewer, preferably in Empire Red! 😉
